A direction splitting scheme for Navier–Stokes–Boussinesq system in spherical shell geometries

چکیده
This article introduces a second-order direction splitting method for solving the incompressible Navier–Stokes–Boussinesq system in spherical shell region. The equations are solved on overset Yin–Yang grids, combined with coordinate transforms. approach allows to avoid singularities at poles and keeps grid size relatively uniform. downside is that subdivided into two equally sized, overlapping subdomains requires use of Schwarz-type iterations. temporal accuracy achieved via an artificial compressibility scheme bootstrapping. spatial discretization based finite differences Marker-And-Cell stencil. entire implemented parallel using domain decomposition iteration local solves. stability, accuracy, weak scalability verified manufactured solution while its practicality demonstrated natural convection problem gap between concentric spheres.

A Modified Flux Vector Splitting Scheme for Flow Analysis in Shock Wave Laminar Boundary Layer Interactions
The present work introduces a modified scheme for the solution of compressible 2-D full Navier-Stokes equations, using Flux Vector Splitting method. As a result of this modification, numerical diffusion is reduced. The computer code which is developed based on this algorithm can be used easily and accurately to analyze complex flow fields with discontinuity in properties, in cases such as shock...
متن کاملElectro-magneto-encephalography for a three-shell model: distributed current in arbitrary, spherical and ellipsoidal geometries.
The problem of determining a continuously distributed neuronal current inside the brain under the assumption of a three-shell model is analysed. It is shown that for an arbitrary geometry, electroencephalography (EEG) provides information about one of the three functions specifying the three components of the current, whereas magnetoencephalography (MEG) provides information about a combination...

متن کاملRadiation-pressure-induced mode splitting in a spherical microcavity with an elastic shell.
In this work, we present a novel method to reveal azimuthal whispering gallery modes (WGMs) in a spherical microcavity coated with a nano-meter thick polyelectrolyte shell and one monolayer of CdTe semiconductor quantum dots. The new approach in this experiment is based on the deformation of the spherical shape in a non-contact way using the radiation pressure from a laser beam, which causes th...
متن کاملA time-splitting spectral scheme for the Maxwell–Dirac system
We present a time-splitting spectral scheme for the Maxwell–Dirac system and similar time-splitting methods for the corresponding asymptotic problems in the semi-classical and the non-relativistic regimes. The scheme for the Maxwell– Dirac system conserves the Lorentz gauge condition is unconditionally stable and highly efficient as our numerical examples show. In particular, we focus in our ex...
